Dazhujia Village Site

Dazhujia Village Site is located eight kilometers east of county seat of Ju County. It lies in the west of Dazhujia Village of Dianziji Town and on the north bank of Dianzi River. Three kilometers east of the Site is Wulougu Hill and west of the Site is Hejia Village. In the shape of a non-regular strip, the east-west length of the Site is 367 meters and the south-north width is 170 meters and 210 meters in the western and eastern parts respectively. It covers an area of about 54,000 square meters. The cultural layer is about 0.3-0.5 meter and for individual relics as thick as 1-2 meters. The relics are mainly about Dawenkou Culture and the culture of Zhou Dynasty. The discovery and excavation of this Site is of unique value for research in the disintegration of public ownership in late primitive society, the emergence of private ownership, the origin of characters and ancient acupuncture. It was approved as Historical and Cultural Protection Site at provincial level by Shandong Provincial Government in 1992 and Historical and Cultural Protection Site at national level by the State Council in 2013.
