As one of the first batch of national forest parks and a current national AAAA level scenic spot, Rizhao Seaside National Forest Park is established on the basis of Dashawan Forest Farm and is approved by the State Forestry Department in 1992. Located between the mountains and the sea, the Park enjoys a scenery of forest and sea. It has an area of 12,000 mu, with the forest coverage rate of 78%. The Park boasts for its fresh air and also a wide variety of animals and plants. Alongside the gold coastline of up to 7 km, the slow waves, the wide beach, the soft sand, and the clean water etc., have altogether presented a typical charm, for which Mr. Samuel C.C. Ting, a Nobel Prize Winner born in Rizhao City, said the beach here "is unparalleled that even Hawaii can not compare with".
